About Himani



Himani completed her Honours and Masters degree in Psychology and has since gained broad experience in psychology practice. 

She is trained to provide psychological intervention for a range of Axis 1 and Axis 11 disorders like clinical depression, trauma and personality disorders. She has a special interest in Anxiety Disorders including Panic Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia (previously Social Anxiety Disorder), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Himani has 5 years university training accredited from the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She gained her registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in 2011, after completing one year full time internship as part of her 5 years university training + one year full time internship pathway to registration.

Treatment Approach

 

Himani combines a warm and personable manner with a best practice approach to psychological treatment, including

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness

Himani is trained in Mindful based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

 

Himani focuses on Psycho education as a priority in her practice approach and her unique ability to make complicated scientific concepts exciting and accessible has led her to become inspiring for the clients she works with, encouraging them to cultivate well being.

 

She has worked as a relationship counsellor at Centacare Family Services and ARMS (Association representing mothers separated from their children by adoption) before gaining her full registration as a psychologist in 2011. Himani also trained in the Gottman method whilst working as a relationship counsellor at Centacare. The Gottman method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory.

Appointments



Consultation is by appointment only. While bulk-billing is not provided, clients are able to receive rebates from Medicare (with an eligible mental health care plan) or their private health fund. Himani Bhatia is registered with Medicare as provider of focused psychological strategies, so eligible clients receive the Medicare rebates available. Electronic payment and Medicare Claim facilities are available at mindful brain psychology. In order to receive a Medicare rebate to assist with the cost of psychological treatment, please discuss your eligibility with your GP. Your GP will need to complete referral documents- referral letter and mental health care plan prior to your appointment with the psychologist in order to claim your Medicare rebate.

Psychologist Himani Bhatia is registered with all major health insurers. If you have private health find extras, check with your fund for rebate entitlements for psychological services. We can process your claims using our HICAPS terminal or we can issue you a receipt to take to your fund.
